about a security deposit scam on freelancer.com so actually this scam was brought up to me through a student of mine so he has shared all the uh screenshots chats and the files the scam documents files everything with me so uh so i'm going to show you how they are trying to scam you uh we are a security deposit so let's get started so actually when you bid on a particular projects on freelancer.com so the employers there will send you a message asking you to communicate outside of the platform so for example here they are trying to ask you to communicate via whatsapp and in this example uh they are asking you to communicate via email so if you receive these kind of messages after you bid on freelancer.com projects i'm pretty sure those are 100 scams so for the i'm i have added only just two examples so if you check these two profiles these two profiles are already closed by uh freelancer stuff so let me i can show it so let me click and open this profile for example so as you can see here when i try to open this particular profile it is already closed because uh those guys has scammed several freelancers so so let's see how how they are trying to scam uh you on freelancer.com actually i'm going to show the whole chat uh where they have tried to scam a freelancer of mine so as you can see here they are trying to ask the freelancer to send a message via whatsapp so the particular freelancer has sent them a message here he has sent them a message and they have initially they are asking you to send your full name and the country as well so the freelancer has sent the country and the full name as well after that what they are trying to say\ what they are trying to do is they are trying to say about their company so they are claiming that they are this company is they cause something like that and they are telling some kind of introduction about the company actually they are saying these kind of things just to build a trust on you so you go you guys know okay okay this company actually exists and you can work together with them so that is why they are sending this and also after that after telling about the company they are\ also sending a particular typing demo video as well actually i'm not sure where this is uploaded they are sending a kind of typing demo video as well so you can watch about the work as well so after sending about the company details and also the particular demo you will have you'll 100 believe that okay this is this really exists and i have to get this job so after that what they are trying to do is they are trying to send a pdf document so in this pdf document they have their project details and terms and conditions in this document you can find this so let me show it first so this is the pdf document uh they will be sending you in whatsapp chat so as you can see here they have added a particular a sample image here and they have added the example of typing as well so actually if you want to convert this image into particular text you don't need to type it manually actually so what you can do is you can simply take a screenshot of this one i am taking it live okay i have take the screenshot so we can use some tools called uh optical character recognition so what does what does this means is so if you upload a particular image with text it will extract the particular text from that image and give you the editable text version so let me do it so let me find that screenshot so this is the screenshot as you can see here same letter so i'm going to convert this as into a text version within one few seconds so let me see after it's uploaded okay let me convert it so as you can see here i have get the exact uh text version of that particular image within few seconds so actually you don't need to hire a person to do to convert this uh image in this particular image into a text version you can simply use some kind of tools to do that in a few seconds another thing i want to say is uh the company they are claiming is that isak dot com isak or something like that actually i checked actually the particular company exists i think they are using this company's name to scam the freelancers claiming that they are the real owners of the company so as you can see here we can find the phone number as well the telephone number here as well but the particular phone number in whatsapp chat is completely different so you guys know this is uh these are some kind of scammers uh trying to scam in the name of this company so let's go into that particular pdf document and see how what are the project details so this is where they are trying to ask for a security deposit so they have like five project details yeah five project details for example uh this is the project one and the uh so for to get the project one what you have to do is you have to send a security fee of 40 and you will get 625 as um as the project one fee so what they will do is they are asking you to send the forty up front even before you work on the particular projects so what they will do is they will simply run away with your forty dollars and you won't never hear back again from them so for example i i they have their terms and conditions there so i think uh so basically if it's a company as you can see here first of all was the demo video which i sent you so basically if it's a company they won't type if it's a real company they won't uh use i here and also they i think they are trying to scam freelancers from freelancer and fiverr as well and they are asking you to send the money we are natural and skiller netrela and skill account so basically if you send money via these kind of payment processes it's very hard for you to get back so suppose if you send a particular money via paypal then you can simply dispute the transaction and get the money back but if you send money via these kind of platforms you cannot get it back\ so so that is how they are trying to scam you uh as a you we are a security deposit so now let's see how you can uh avoid these kind of scams actually this freelance as you can see here let me show it after sending the particular pdf document and once he checked it he didn't follow their rule follow their terms about asking for the security payment he he he asked them to take the money after the end of the project payment and he after that he just stopped the chat and asked me whether if they are scam or not so after that then how i then that that's how i get these kind of chats and so basically if you want to play on projects as a complete beginner on freelancer upwork and avoid this kind of scam so what you have to do is you have to follow these kind of steps so you have to apply on projects only the projects where the payment is verified and the employer hiring history is there so let me show it so this is freelancer.com and let me browse some projects so i'm going to browse some projects here so as you can see here on some projects you are seeing this kind of stars and reviews so that means this particular employee has hired several freelancers before and uh they have nine reviews as well so nine nine freelancers who worked with this particular employee has reviewed them five star so actually if you beat the on these kind of projects where you have you find the payment verified and employer history then uh these are not not scams and you you might get hired here as well so that is one thing you have to make focus and also you have to beat on projects with a reasonable project budget and also you need to beat on projects that falls under your expertise so by following this kind of uh tips and you can simply avoid these kind of security deposit scams and get great projects on facebook so guys if you are
